چکیده

background: percutaneous nephrolithotomy (pcnl) for renal calculi is less invasive treatment than open surgery. vascular complications of this procedure include hematoma, pseudoaneurysm and arteriovenous fistula of which pseudoaneurysm is usually symptomatic 24h after procedure. case report : we report a case of pseudoaneurysm, which was symptomatic within less than 24h following procedure and because of drop in hemoglobin and changes in hemodynamic status and resistance to conservative therapy, was a candidate for renal artery angiography. when definitive diagnosis of pseudoaneurysm was confirmed via angiography, treatment was done successfully by superselective embolization with microcoils and the patient was discharged with good general condition one day later. conclusion: pseudoaneurysm as a rare vascular complication following pcnl , diagnosed by renal angiography within less than 24h and superselective embolization of it was done successfully.

Pseudoaneurysm following percutaneous nephrolithotomy.

Delayed hemorrhage following percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) is secondary to pseudoaneurysm or arteriovenous fistula, which happens in less than 1% of PCNLs. Predisposing factors are: medial puncture instead of posterolateral puncture, arteriosclerosis, and hypertension. Definite diagnosis is made by angiography and embolization, as a definite treatment, can be done through the same angiogr...

Focal neuropathies following percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) – preliminary study

INTRODUCTION Postoperative neurological complications in pelvic and renal surgery are a well-known clinical problem and their morbidities are important. We designed this study to determine prevalence and risk factors of such complications after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) surgery. MATERIAL AND METHODS A cross-sectional study was performed during February and July 2011 on 68 PCNL cases...

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in horse shoe kidneys.

OBJECTIVE To review our experience of PCNL in horse shoe kidneys. METHODS Between June 2001 and January 2005 we performed PCNL in 16 Horse shoe kidneys in 14 patients with calculi, 2 patients had bilateral calculi. Percutaneous puncture was made with patient in prone position. Their ages ranged between 4 to 52 years with a mean age of 26.3 years. Our mean stone burden was 820 mm2 (range 40-13...

A novel percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) set: The ‘Economical One-shot PCNL Set’ (Ecoset)

OBJECTIVES To suggest a novel disposable percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) set that we named the 'Economical One-shot PCNL Set' (Ecoset), which consists of a single 30-F dilator, 30-F sheath, and 8-F polyurethane dilator, as use of a 'one-shot' dilatation technique during PCNL is becoming widespread. PATIENT AND METHODS The medical records of 42 patients with kidney stones who had undergone...

Ultra-mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) versus standard PCNL: A randomised clinical trial

Objective To assess the effectiveness and advantages of ultra-mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (UM-PCNL) versus standard PCNL (S-PCNL), as one of the most important differences between the various PCNL techniques is the size of the renal access, which contributes to the broad spectrum of complications and outcomes. Patients and methods This clinical randomised trial was conducted in 2016. In...
